Josh's 30 Day Photography Challenge Project: Day 12

Day 12: Portrait
It didn't say it had to be a human portrait did it?  This is my cat, Rory, and Rory doesn't sit for portraits.  He has better things to do like curl up in his bed under his blankie on this bitterly cold day.  I can set him on a stool, but he'll hop right off.  For this shot, I set him on the stool with one hand and held the camera with the other.  This was the only shot I got and I didn't think it was terrible.

3rd Annual Art's Alive Fine Art Market

All set up and ready to go!
Last night was my first time participating in Art's Alive in the Dead of Winter Fine Art Market in Sharon.  There were 3 floors of artists, food vendors, nonprofits, and musicians.  For $25, I was able to set up shop on the second floor with a bunch of my buddies from summer's Artiegras.  Not having been in the Arts and Culture Center before, I wasn't sure what to expect.
Sharon is about an hour and a half drive for me.  The friends I see down there, always seem surprised I make the drive, but we have very few, if any, events like this up here.  I do it because I enjoy it. It's great to have people to talk shop with and it's fun just to hang out.  Making some money is great, too, but most of us aren't doing it for money alone.

I ended up doing pretty well (for me) tonight once I got going.  Get going was the hardest part.  I've tried really hard to come with an efficient system for getting things all on one little cart so I only have to make one trip and having things in such a way that it's easy and quick to set up.  Everything tumbled off the cart twice on the way in, but some kind souls helped me out and I got set up well before the doors opened.

I love this shirt!

Umm... almost.
Kit's adult truffles are amazing and Martha does awesome woodwork.  I don't know that these two should be next to each other, though!  Lol.
All in all, I had a great time and hope to do more of these kinds of events, meet more great artists, and sell more of my art.

Josh's 30 Day Photography Challenge Project: Day 10

Day 10: Lens Flare
So much for a 30 Day Challenge!  I really got hung up on the last two.  It's hard to get a sunset when there's so much snow and clouds especially in the evening.  If you live in the northeast, you know what I'm talking about.  Then, I was trying to get lens flare... on purpose.  You spend so much time trying to avoid it in your photos, it's a little unnatural to try to get it on purpose.  Again, sun issues.  I was waiting for the sun to sink through the trees, but by then it was too diffused by clouds.  This morning, I guess I saw something in the rising sun and decided to step outside in minus double digit temperatures to snap this.  A little tweak in angles and the right camera settings and I finally have my lens flare.

Josh's 30 Day Photography Challenge Project: Day 9

Day 9: Bokeh

Today's project involves bokeh and that deals with the way a lens renders out of focus points of light.  Most people probably picture something a little more like the photo to the left when they think of bokeh.  I took this around Christmas time when we still had a tree with tons of pretty little lights.  Today, however, it was colder here than the north pole and last I knew, we were still in the lead for the most snowfall, but there were these nice flowers by the window I could photograph with my long lens to blur out the junk in the background.  Until tomorrow...

Josh's 30 Day Photography Challenge Project: Day 8

Day 8: Sunset

So, the Day 8 photo is supposed to be of a sunset.  I waited almost a week trying to get a good picture of a sunset.  In fact, I waited almost a week to see a sunset period.  I snapped this photo through my windshield real quick while stopped a stop sign.  Not my best work obviously, but I'm ready to move on to the next one and the OCD in me says I have to go through the list in order.  Heck, if I waited to get things perfect before I posted, I probably wouldn't post anything at all!  That's what I get for being a perfectionist.  Hope you enjoy it anyway.  Stay warm, all my NE USA friends!

Josh's 30 Day Photography Challenge Project: Day 7

Day 7: Silhouette

You could say this was a "mini high key" experiment.  I used a single flash aimed at a piece of standard copy paper with a action figure as a model since I really didn't have a live one.  But it can be interesting what you can do with whatever you have on hand.

Josh's 30 Day Photography Challenge Project: Day 1

Day 1: Self Portrait

Wow.  It's sure been a while since I was on here!  Since "Love One Another," I've been trying to figure out what to do with this blog.  I've been trying to figure out where I want a lot of other things, too.  I want simplicity, yet I like everything in it's own place so it's been tough especially when I'm also trying to figure out who I am as an artist and a photographer.  Where do I put everything?  Where and how should I display my work?  Do I keep my photos and art separate?  Can they come together somehow?  I decided to give myself permission to evolve and trying things out.  I can put things on different platforms and see how things work.  If you're reading this, comment below.  Say hello.  I'm glad you're here!
