Erie Summer Festival of the Arts (Represent!)

Wow.  It's been a while, but I'm finally back and finally have some good news to share.  As mentioned on my Facebook artist page, a photograph I took was accepted into the Erie Summer Festival of the Arts.  This is exciting as I've never made it into this show before.  Anyway, it was up from the 12th to the 14th of this month and on Saturday I made it up to Erie, PA to see it.  I took a few photos with my phone (yes, that's me in the reflection!) so you can see it, too.  I'm hoping for some more good things to come!

If you're interested, I have some prints available at my Etsy shop at

Exploration: Cracked Art

Today's mission: make some digital art based on cracks in neighborhood.  This is another fun little exercise based on a prompt from one of my art books.  It involves documenting cracks in the sidewalk.  Where I live, though, there aren't any sidewalks so I had to settle for the cracks in the road.  Pushed and pulled and put through all sorts of things in Elements, these cracks become some rather interesting pieces of abstract art.  Try it!  You'll never look at sidewalk cracks the same again!

Exploration: Paint Sample Art

Hi there.  Sorry it's been a little while.  I haven't been idle, though.  Since, I'm not working on a painting right now, I've been playing around with collage.  I especially like using things lying around and stuff about to be thrown out.  This is a quick answer to an exercise about using those little strips of paint color samples you find in department and home improvement stores.  I just happened to have one around from finding the right green to paint my craft show display boxes.  Throw in some Bristol board scraps and some sticky note pieces (not to mention a Photoshop filter) and I end up with a mini minimalist collage.
